Who's planning on attending Airventure this year? I'm planning on bringing the kids again (last year was their first visit) and (assuming the ground isn't too soft), camping out in the North 40 under the shady wings of an MU-2. Arriving Friday 8/1, departing Sunday 8/3...

Last year there was another Mits on the south side of runway 27, but I wasn't able to link up with the occupants... Hoping to meet some more members of the MU-2 community this year.

I plan on flying into KFLD on Thursday morning and staying until Sunday. Dave I saw you camped at OSH last year but I wasn't in the MU-2 ownership world yet. I will try to look for you this year or PM me and we can meet up somewhere.

Dave and fellow MU2 operators: If Jet Air (KGRB) can help any operators out during the upcoming EAA, please feel free to give a call. Our new ramp will be open prior to the convention, approx. 70,000 additional sq. feet. I’ll do my best to assist any operators with transportation and lodging and including fuel prices. Green Bay is about 1 hr. north of Oshkosh. Fly safe. Joe Megna Sr.

I've stayed in GRB for the convention. It doesn't have the panache of staying at OSH, but the in and out is much easier and the drive is easy. Parking at the convention is also easy. I'd be nervous to park my MU2 on the grass.

Understood. Going to GRB and driving down is our fallback if the ground
isn't dry and hard. Really had no issues last year on the grass (other
than how hot it got during the taxi since I had turned off AC to avoid
putting grass clippings between the windows (tip from another member on
this list).

I will be parked at Green Bay Wednesday and Thursday (Everyone on the phone was very helpful). I have had my MU2 at Whitman (on the grass) and have used nearby airports. The ease of flying to the outside airports makes it easier for me, but the experience of landing during air adventure and camping under the wing should be experienced.

Hi Joe,

If we go, we will be coming into GRB on Thursday, overnight, departing Friday. If the stars align, I will give you a call.

Thank you!

Tom,

Barring anything weird, I’m looking at arriving at OSH around 0745 Friday morning, departing Saturday.  Happy to link up if you want.  Have you thought about flying into OSH (even going to park for the day on the ramp at one of the two FBOs)?  By the end of the week, the ramps are generally pretty empty…

Dave

I am trying to get slots in case I decide to go that way. But there are also no hotels available near the field. If I went into OSH, I would definitely park at Bassler.

Believe there are still private homes near the field available (especially for the end of the week). Just talked to a friend who flew in yesterday. He was able to book a room in a private house less than a mile from Whitman just a few days ago.
Regardless, weax looks like it will be good. I just got my IFR slot reservation (in case I need it) and will be arriving around 0730 on Friday. Look for the Marquise in the North 40 with tents galore....might even have some beer in the cooler....

Sorry I am going to miss you Dave. We are flying into GRB tomorrow morning, spend all day at the show and depart Friday morning. It is the only time that works with my schedule.

I am sure I will catch you at another MU2 event.
