I was planning a trip to Durango this weekend and was wondering is anyone might have any thoughts on where to land. Fuel seems a little high at DRO. I thought we might get a car and just drive the area looking for potential summer home. Plan was to leave Friday and return on Sunday.
Thanks Kurt

Hello,

When I went there a few years ago I flew into DRO. It is a bit expensive but there really isn't any reasonable alternatives. It was a good solid airport and folks where helpful.

There is also a small glider operation that is a great thing to do.

I would highly recommend taking a ride on the Durango-Silverton line. If you want to see some shots of it they are on my webssite.. wwww.PaulOnline.com in the "Featured Photography" galleries. In the "Family Galleries" you'll find pictures of my extended family in Durango.

Sincerely,

Paul

Just north of Durango is a lake called "Electra Lake" private lake and private enclave of 100 homes around the lake. The fishing is EXCELLENT in the lake but trying to buy a home around it is very difficult as it's a very old club and most homes are legacy transfers but it is a neat place to be.Cliff Biggs N61BA "N" model

My Mu2 partner Adam has a house in Pagosa Springs.
PM me and I will get you his number.

That whole area is awesome.

And Scott and Ann Dann's place in Durango is even more awesome if anybody has a chance to stop in. He has a tractor there just for me!

All are welcome. Thankfully Tom flies his MU2 better than he drives the tractor. I was worried that an SFAR was going to be issued for the tractor after the officials saw tom drive the thing.

Easy now,Tom and I are cut form the same mold. I spent the day at OSH flying formation and a little ACM in the Yak.
Will head out for same and acro today.

Freestyle is a great relief from flying straight and level, GPS direct, autopilot on, in the system - thining about potential emeregency !!
Thats too parallel to the way my mind works at my job !

Anyone coming in for OSH is welcome to a ride.
Or let me know and we can go out after hours for dinner and talk MU2, especially if you base in Green Bay for the week.
